Dual fuel and inverter describe different parts of the machine

A conventional generator generally ties engine speed closely to output frequency. An inverter generator first produces electricity and then converts it into a regulated AC output. Compare runtime from published consumption, not tank labels

A fair fuel comparison uses rates for the same generator and roughly the same load. Enter gasoline in gallons per hour and propane in pounds per hour or another manufacturer-stated unit. Those quantities cannot be compared directly. Convert each plan into hours available, fuel required for the outage schedule, cost per hour, and a reserve that will not be committed to the base plan.

A propane cylinder’s nameplate water capacity is not the same as usable fuel weight. Cold conditions and high demand can also limit how quickly LPG vaporizes. Gasoline has different constraints: fuel ages, ethanol can attract water, and storage procedures matter. The better fuel is the one supported by the exact model, local availability, safe storage, and a realistic replenishment plan.

Fuel choice does not change the carbon-monoxide boundary

Gasoline and propane engines both produce carbon monoxide. CPSC says portable generators belong outside, at least 20 feet from the home, with exhaust directed away from the home and other buildings.
